We are in the midst of a study of the sixth chapter of John’s gospel. Jesus is teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum to the people that he is the bread of life. Jesus has come to give life but the people have come to Jesus for the wrong reasons. They have come to Jesus to have their bellies filled. They have come to Jesus for what he will do for them not because of who Jesus is as the all-satisfying God.
