The fifth verse of Luke 21 is an important sentence to read carefully because it sets the direction of the discussion and teaching that Jesus is about to give. There are some (his disciples) who are speaking about the temple in Jerusalem, how it was adorned with beautiful stones. What Herod was doing in his renovation of the temple was amazing and beautiful. Herod was a master architect, an amazing designer and builder. Archaeologists have uncovered many architectural feats that Herod built in the Palestine region.
