Gideon: Foolishness in Victory (Judges 7-8)
A sermon from Scott Kercheville.
Because of Israel’s idolatry, God sent the Midianites to oppress Israel. When Israel called to the Lord for salvation, the Lord chose weak Gideon to lead Israel against Midian. Once the Lord proved his power to Gideon, Gideon moved his 32,000 men close to the Midianite camp. Though Gideon’s men were outnumbered four to one, God told Gideon that he wanted to defeat Midian with fewer men so that Israel would recognize that God gave them the victory. God sent home all but 300 of Gideon’s men.
