This passage contains the final instructions to his disciples. John 17 records Jesus’ prayer to the Father and after this prayer Jesus is betrayed and arrested. Jesus has revealed that he is leaving his disciples, predicting his upcoming death, but more importantly, predicting his return to the Father. In Jesus’ final instruction, Jesus teaches how his disciples can have joy and peace that cannot be take away from them.
