We are looking at God’s introduction of himself to the world. God reveals who we are and who he is. We learned in chapter 1 why we are here. We are made in the image of God which means we are to rule over the creation as God’s representatives. This is the mission God has given to humans. But chapter 2 spends even more time explaining the creation of humans, which continues to emphasize how special humans are over the rest of the creation. Each aspect of the creation gets only a few sentences in chapter 1. Not only does the creation of humans have a longer paragraph in chapter 1, nearly all of chapter 2 is about the details of the creation of humans.
