Work Out Your Own Salvation (Philippians 2:12-13)

Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure. (Philippians 2:12–13 ESV)

The apostle Paul is instructing these Christians on how to live their lives in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. His desire for them is to have unity, being of the same mind, same love, and same attitude (2:2). This unity will only occur when we do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit and count others more significant than ourselves by looking out for their interests…
